Job description
  • Lead and manage the environmental and social aspects of projects within the Energy & Natural Resources department.
  • Develop and implement environmental and social management plans.
  • Engage with stakeholders and communities to address environmental and social issues.
  • Ensure compliance with local and international environmental and social standards.
  • Conduct environmental and social impact assessments.
  • Monitor and report on environmental and social performance.
  • Provide training and support to staff on environmental and social management.
  • Continually improve the company's environmental and social performance.
  • Build up and scale a team of direct reports to oversee job aspects.
  • Oversee the implementation of corporate environmental and social management procedure / manual on sites
  • Conduct regular site inspections and provide guidance to project management for ensuring environmental and social compliance as per local & lenders requirements. Compliance check on ESMS implementation on sites. Lead exchange on impact and sustainability matters with internal and external stakeholders.

    10+ years of professional experience in Environmental and Social management.

    Proven ability to report to senior management and international lenders.

    Demonstrated experience in engaging and managing stakeholders, including local communities and other project-affected parties.

    Fluent in English, with excellent written and verbal communication skills.

    Expert knowledge of the Equator Principles, IFC Performance Standards, EBRD Performance Requirements, ADB Safeguards Policy Statement and Social Protection Strategy, and other relevant lender Environmental and Safety frameworks.

    Strong experience in site-based Environment and Safety inspections and interpreting monitoring outcomes.

    Background in auditing and audit reporting, either internally (ESMS, ISO 14001 EMS) or against international standards.

    Ability to address non-compliance issues, review and approve corrective action plans, and contribute to emergency preparedness and response planning.

    Hands-on experience in developing and implementing Environmental and Social Management Systems, and applying mitigation planning and community engagement techniques.

    Direct experience with the application of IFC, EBRD, ADB, AfDB, AIIB, ILO and Core Labor Standards.

    Ability to integrate social risks and outcomes into business planning and project execution.

    Solid understanding of ESIA best practices aligned with international benchmarks.

    Familiarity with the United Nations Global Compact, Voluntary Principles on Security and Human Rights, and other social performance initiatives.
