Job description

Location : Remote (Turkey-based, aligned with UK hours)

Contract : Initial 6 months (highly likely to extend based on roadmap and additional projects, current project length is 12+ months)

Sector : Large-scale UK retail and e-commerce

We are seeking a mid-to-senior level Solution Architect to join a commercial technology team supporting multiple SaaS platform integrations and data flow initiatives.

The role will focus on low-level solution design , creating documentation to enable engineering teams to build integrations between third-party SaaS platforms and internal systems.

You will work closely with enterprise and domain architects but focus on the hands-on design work needed to implement solutions, including documenting Key Design Decisions (KDDs) , data flow specifications , and architecture standards compliance .

  • Develop low-level solution designs based on high-level architectural direction
  • Create Key Design Decisions (KDDs) and detailed documentation in Confluence
  • Work alongside engineering teams to define how systems will integrate, data flows, and endpoints
  • Ensure solutions align with North Star architecture and technology standards
  • Liaise with enterprise and domain architects to review impacts across wider domains
  • Support integration of multiple SaaS platforms, ensuring data flows into and out of internal systems efficiently
  • Document any deviations from architectural standards and support approval processes
  • Participate in discussions on event-driven architecture, batch processing, and Kafka-based data pipelines

Required Skills & Experience

  • Minimum 3 years of solution architecture experience (mid-to-senior level)
  • Strong experience in low-level design and technical documentation
  • Understanding of event-driven architectures, batch processing, and data integration patterns
  • Familiarity with AWS infrastructure and knowledge of tools like Kafka for data streaming
  • Experience working with SaaS platforms and integration design
  • Ability to work within a complex, matrixed environment, liaising with multiple teams
  • Proficiency in Confluence for documenting designs and decisions
  • Excellent communication skills to articulate technical concepts clearly to engineers and business stakeholders
  • Native-level or excellent English communication
  • Retail or large enterprise experience, especially within commercial technology functions
  • Duration : Initial 6 months with high potential for extension (overall programme length is 12+ months)
